A Toast to Mothers and Grandmothers everywhere!

Yes, she taught me some non-traditional things that I never needed to use such as how to wring a chicken's neck, clean it,  and prepare it for Sunday’s mid-day table. I consider myself lucky even today that I didn't have to travel down that road - but on the farm it really was a necessity.

She also taught me some very important conventional things I could use such as how to bake a little love into every cookie, casserole, or concoction that would come out of my kitchen; how to take time each day from my busy schedule to really listen to the members of my little family; and most importantly to always take care of myself so I'd be able to take care of my family. She taught me so many things, and I hope I will be remembered as a better person for having adapted many of them.

So I guess it was only natural I'd have a wonderful Mother - after all she'd learned from the best. Two lovely ladies - very different but both quite similar in their love for me - were two of my greatest treasures in life. Yes, no one would have called Mom a June Cleaver because although she managed to keep a lovely home and cook wonderful meals just like that icon, she also believed it was okay to work outside the home at a time that it was kind of frowned on unless it was a necessity.

But what or who was she hurting? My Dad was great company, but the U.S. Navy didn't afford her a lot of time with him, and what was she to do each day after sending me off to school? Gone were the days when we could make jam together or she could cut out a new dress for me because her sous chef and model simply wasn't available anymore.

Mom's time at work never hurt our relationship; rather it made our weekends even more special! We'd play catch up as well as taking the time to shop together, attend church, and generally do all the things a "traditional" Mom was able to do. I suffered nothing from having a working Mother - rather she taught me the value of having a job and how it could enrich my life, too.

From the first day she brought me home and stood over my little cradle to make sure I wasn't going to stop breathing to the last morning I was lucky enough to share her company I was blessed, and in sharing her Mother with me I had a double blessing. So on Mother's Day I'll proudly pin on that white rose that symbolizes that my Mother is no longer living while secretly wishing my rose was red. I'll ponder for a bit about the loss I've sustained by the passing of both my Mother and my Grandmother, but spend most of the day counting my blessings that I was born a very lucky lady to have had them in my life.

That is my story; now if you have a story about your special Mother or Grandmother please feel free to share it with us in the Comments area.  We love your comments!

Now on with the show.  We have some wonderful wardrobe boosters available for Mother's Day giving or getting -  a subtle hint to Hubby or Dad may be appropriate!  Click on the Cards to see bigger pictures, and click on the name of the shop under the card to go to each shop you would like to visit.  Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

When I think about Mother's Day and what my Mother would wear, this was the outfit that came to mind. My Mother is a jetsetter, a professional and a fashionista! This three piece set is made from 100% cotton print and solids. I tweaked a pattern from Fletcher Patterns called French Connection to come up with this design.

The jacket features bell sleeves and a wrap front. The bustier has front and rear darts with a Sweetheart neckline. The wrap skirt and jacket are trimmed in soutache, with tiny buttons as eye catching details. Each piece is fully lined with a snap or hook and eye closure. Doll and shoes not included.

For the Mother's Day Happening, Vintage Cissy is modeling a vibrantly coloured red cardigan worn over a red and white polka dot top with black trousers.  My Mom and Cissy are both brunettes who look striking in the colour red. The hip length wrap cardigan has long sleeves, a wide collar and closes with a tie belt.

A seed stitch knit pattern is used on the body of the sweater and stocking stitch for the sleeves. Scarf is also hand knit in a fuzzy textured black and red yarn. The shell style top has a round neckline, short cap sleeves and soft pleats at the hemline. Cotton poly blend fabrics are used to construct this lovely garment.

Mom will look splendid at her special Mother's Day dinner in this lavendar silk gown with peek-a-boo lace crinoline. The organdy contrasting overlay makes this dress just a bit more formal. Your Mom will be the Belle of the Ball in this wonderful gown accented with lavendar flowers at waist and skirt

Frances Weir
The photo of the drawing in this card was the inspiration for this outfit done by Frances for her shop.  She wanted to do it because the drawing  was done by her Mother at age 17, in 1929. The drawing is in a scrapbook her Mother made for school when she was attending a technical school in New Westminster BC.  Strolling down Memory Lane  a little further, Frances also found photos of her Mother wearing a similar hat, and she remembers she loved seeing her lovely beaded handbags in her cedar chest when she was a wee girl.  Frances' Mother died last August at 100 years.....a lady to the end.....but she left Frances with a legacy that she will never forget.

Madra is wearing a 1920's inspired ensemble consisting of a full length knit coat, a "flapper" style cloche hat, and a 20's style beaded handbag. The coat is knit using a silk, mink and marino wool blend yarn, featuring a detachable vintage fur 'stole' collar. The pearl bead and velvet ribbon embellished hat is hand moulded from vintage fur hat felt and the non-opening, suede leather handbag is designed with an Art Deco style  motif in hand sewn glass beads.

Pauline Lyngard
BW Designs presents "To Mother With Love."  Nothing is more lady like than a simple cotton shift in cool blue and white. Add a dash of velvet and some beads for elegant finishing touches.  This ensemble comes with a matching purse and pillbox hat. Now Mom is ready to go shopping or lunch out with friends!  See this nd more casual cottons in Pauline's shop.

Karen Daniel
Karen's Mother's Day 4 piece outfit starts off with a turtleneck micro knit cotton sweater that closes in the back with snaps. Pink cotton pique slacks with turned cuffs, front and back pockets trimmed with contrast fabric and a fly front closure completes the next piece.

The matching news boy cap is fully lined and will fit over various hair dos; it has a brim that can be shaped. The tote bag is also fully lined and has a front pocket for her cell phone and contrast fabric straps.  Mom will be all ready for a day of shopping whether she needs family groceries or a real fashion shopping experience!

Anna Castanes
It was Mothers Day and Mom kept pinching herself.  She was in the city of lights,  Paris!  What a wonderful gift from the family. She had always wanted to come to Paris and here she was. She turned to look at the bedding thinking how beautiful it looked. It looked so rich.  She knew when she got home she would have Anna make her the same set so there would always be a reminder of this time that she spent in  the city she had  only dreamed about.

This special Mothers Day Bedding Set includes a reversible coverlet, two reversible euro shams. and one rectangular throw pillow made with faux suede and silk dupioni; some pieces also are embroidered.  Bed and dresser not included. Can be custom made.

Judy O'Connell
Aponi Designs presents “May Flowers” honoring my Mother.  It is made to fit Silkstone Barbie®, Poppy Parker® and small busted Fashion Royalty® dolls.Included is a white Dupioni silk dress with a mint green ultra suede belt featuring a pearl buckle. It is fully lined and has pearl beads and button over snap back closure.

The mint green satin brocade coat is lined in white Dupioni silk with tiny pearlescent flower buttons over snaps front closure.  Accessories include a custom, hand-formed and bound white sinamay hat with feather, floral, and tulle embellishments; mint lace gloves; and white faux pearl and mint green Swarovski crystal necklace and earrings with a faux pearl snake style bracelet.

Mary Watson
Growing up in the 60’s, my Mother had a bubble cut and wore dresses with gathered skirts.  Her favorite colors in her later years were pink and blue.  Her whole house was decorated in pinks and blues.  She passed away two years ago.  I always bought her flowers on Mother’s Day and this year I will too.

It is only appropriate for Barbie to wear Pink and Blue in honor of my Mother and hold a bouquet of Mother's Day Flowers.  I drafted this dress to fit the Vintage and Reproduction Barbie Dolls.  It is made of 100% cotton fabric from a salesperson’s sample.  The top is lined, and it has a V neckline in the back with a snap closure.  The grosgrain ribbon belt is separate and you can choose to tie it with a bow in back as in the picture or however you want.  Dressed in this ensemble designed and sewn by Mary, your Barbie will be ready for a beautiful Mother’s Day.

Ina Murphey
For Mother’s Day, designer Ina Murphey, of La Petite Fashion Promenade, has created an elegant green and orchid ensemble.  The sleeveless dress is made of hand marbled 100% silk from the Marbling Group of Pondicherry, India.

It has a back snap fastener closure, an ivory silk lined bodice and is accented with a green silk ribbon sash embellished with hand embroidered orchid silk ribbon flowers and pearls.  Accessories include a matching hat and coordinating elegant Swarovski pearl and crystal necklace and earrings.

Gayle Chavez
Oohlalaz has created this OOAK ensemble. Inspired by a loved one, because out of all the styles Gayle has created in the years gone by, this was most loved by her Mother.  The comment her Mother would say when she saw this romantic style was " oohlala, " with a big smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes,  hence the ideal name for Gayle's shop.

This ensemble was created in a natural Ivory cotton, vintage beige laces, and laces up in back. Skirt has snap closures. Under garment is a one piece combination bodice and pantaloon with snap closures. Bustier laces up and is embellished with gathered lace.  Included are the choker and earrings.

Peggy Burney
My mother actually has a suit similar to this. Vanessa is wearing a a black and yellow suit.  Some might even call it a Bumblebee suit.  The slightly flared skirt is constructed of high grade yellow cotton fabric lined with white china silk with a snap closure in back.

The jacket is of black and white polka dotted cotton material lined in white china silk with snap closures in front.  It has a yellow belt with gold buckle and is accented with a yellow flower on the the shoulder and a yellow scarf.

Karen O'Keefe
KL Originals Couture
This is a sneak peek at one of our newest shops, and it is not open yet - look for Karen's shop to be on CDS at the end of May.  Her Mother's Day offering is an outfit from the movie Pretty Woman.  Karen has dedicated this outfit to her mother because it was worn by Julia Roberts in this movie which was her Mother's all time favorite movie.

The outfit is completely lined with silk batiste. The bow in front, as well as the flowers on the hat, are made of cotton organdy.   Tyler is modeling this outfit.

Christine Loff
Christine was inspired by a Joan Harris "wiggle dress." Margot is wearing a 50s inspired sheath of summer cotton. The colors go with her red hair and tanned complexion. Her linen hat, accented with silk, protects her from the sun and coordinates with her dress.

This could be just the thing to wear for this Mother’s Day! She’ll be comfortable and stylish at the same time. Available at The Black Ibis, this dress is specially made for JamieShow Demi dolls, but may fit other 12-inch dolls.

Karen Leverton
For her special Mother's Day item Karen designed a black leather Court style shoe for 17 inch dolls with a body style like Deanna Denton.  Deanna plans to step out in her little black dress with shoes to match.  These special shoes have a rather sedate look in black.  They feature a small flower on the front to make them more festive, as well as a suede-look trim to finish them off.  All are attached to a black resin wedge heel.  Karen has always  liked a round toed shoe, and thought  Deanna would love something new to wear to a luncheon with her Mother on Mothers Day.  Only shoes are featured; no dress or doll.

Gosh, what a nice showing!!  And this ends our monthly entries, and now we have some news about one of our popular shop owners.  We'd like to applaud Angelic Dreamz who had two of their JAMIEshow Dolls nominated for the Doll of the Year (DOTY) award in two different categories, per the announcement made at IDEX (International Doll Exposition) in Orlando, Florida, earlier this year.  We are really happy to have Angelic Dreamz as one of our cornerstone shops.  They have recently been relocated from our Couture Court to Main Street.

George Gonzalez and his staff have been super busy with the Mel Odom luncheon hosted by AZ and FDQ magazine. They had unveiled a special new Gene doll at IDEX called Phoenix that is collaboration between Mel Odem, JAMIEshow and Angelic Dreamz.

This was very exciting news for Gene fans since a new Gene hadn't been seen since 2010.  However, few had a chance to actually own this doll as there was only a very limited edition of 150, and she is sold out now.
This Gene is a BJD, and she has an interchangeable, rooted wig cap system used on all the regular JAMIEshow line.  Her hair looks rooted, but you can change it.  This doll comes with both blonde and brunette wig caps.

Her face is classic Gene but has the sophistication of the facial texture resin affords. She also comes with 2 pair of hands; one white gloved pair and one natural. And the way they did her gloves are real nice, also.  They made a pair of interchangeable hands that are painted white, and then have a fabric sleeve.  Her powder blue gown is designed by Lori Lyon of Madeleine Rose Couture. It was really nice to see Gene back, if only temporarily, and for some to get to mingle and talk dolls with Mel Odom again.

Gonzalez also announced a new series of models with a younger, more youthful feel aptly named the "Junior Mode" Collection.  The two current dolls are Edie and Didi.  They can both wear all the JAMIEshow wig caps, and are made of the same Smooth-J Resin, and have the same articulated body as other 16" JAMIEshow dolls  And these dolls have inset eyes which can be changed out for new 8 mm eyes.

And finally, Angelic Dreamz now has available the three outfits from the winners of the CDS/AZ At the Opera competition.   These outfits were designed by Lori Lyon, Cindi Stowell, and Deanna Torigian.  Be sure to check them out on the AZ website;  they are beautiful!
And now it's time to bring this to a close.  I believe we have given you a good selection if doll ensembles and accessories in case such items are on your Mom's want list for Mother's Day on May 12.  So make your reservation for a nice luncheon, and sit back and enjoy the latest edition of FDQ!

CDS has a fun article that gives you a playful peek into some of the studios of our shop owners, and Pat Henry makes an exciting revelation about another edition of Gene coming soon!  The whole magazine is reader worthy, really - with patterns, news about both new and nostalgic dolls and wonderful photoss, FDQ is really a Fashion doll lover's dream!!!  Happy reading, Happy Mother's Day, and stay tuned to next month's blog that will feature June Brides.

Who unleased the BridesmaidZillas??

What if you had done everything not to become a BrideZilla?  You know, one of those unbearable women you see on reality tv shows who have to have everything so perfect that they drive friend and foe crazy getting it done?  But you didn't do that.

You asked your very best friends to be your bridesmaids because you wanted to share your special time with people you love.  You let them each pick their own gown - neither color nor design was an issue.  You felt a melody of beautiful dresses would fit right in with your gown.  You didn't do all the bad things BrideZillas do, but you still ended up with a  group of BridesmaidsZillas who seem to be trying to upstage you!! What's a woman to do to really shine, and definitely stand out for the most wondrous occasion of her life when something like that happens!?!

I'm afraid you'll have to wait till our June Happening, June 7, to see how our woeful bride's designer tackles her problem!!  This will mark the first year our talented group of designers at CDS will do a showing of their bridal gowns although some of them do bridal all  the time.  Whatever their experience they were all ready for the task of coordinating their BrideZilla's dress with their Bride's wedding gown to make up a well-cordinated wedding.  Better them than me!!

But now, on with our current show, where our BrideZillas don't have a worry in the world.  They have finally paid for and are wearing a dress they love to yet another wedding - yes, this time the dresses are quite beautiful and reflect their taste!  And, of course, some of them are dreaming of the day when they move up from Bridesmaid to Bride!  Good luck with that!!

Be sure to click on the pictures to see a bigger image; click on the shop names to go directly to the designer's shop.  You'll see their BridesmaidZilla dresses showcased there.

La Petite Fashion Promenade’s BridesmaidZilla is Jo Tai’s Jo Kanaeva.  Ina Murphey has chosen a strapless sheath dress of sage green silk shantung with a cascade of marbled pink silk chiffon petals falling gracefully down the right side of the dress.  The petals are accented with pink bugle and seed beads. Ivory silk lining not only gives the dress a fine couture finish, but also protects your doll’s delicate skin from staining. The dress has a back snap fastener closure and is sized to fit the full busted 16 inch dolls such as Tonner’s Tyler sculpt, JAMIEshow, and Sybarite dolls.

To complete her outfit, Jo Kanaeva is carrying a bouquet of pink roses and star flowers, tied with a light sage green silk satin ribbon that matches the sash on her dress. She has accessorized her outfit with a necklace of Swarovski powder green crystal pearls and pink seed beads on gold wire.

Jenny Catalano

Here comes Tiny Kitty ready for that wedding.  She is wearing a strapless gown in robin's egg blue satin.  The bustier style neckline on the dress is complimented by an attached sash with beads in a stretch elastic in multiple shades of blue.  The dress is fully lined in a fine cotton, and has a snap closure and rear walking vent.

Tiny Kitty is ready to dance the night away long after the wedding has passed.  Doll and shoes not for sale.

Karen Daniel

Karen has designed a Chanel inspired suit for Bridesmaidzilla Chloe. Chloe wanted to ensure that all eyes would be on her and not have anyone watching her younger sister, the Bride. To ensure this she flew to Paris for her OOAK outfit, custom made for her tall slender figure. The two piece suit is made from a rich royal blue silk dupioni, and is fully lined in white. The jacket has princess seaming to hug every curve and ends at her hip. This long sleeved jacket closes with five tiny snaps accented by gold brass floral buttons. The straight skirt closes with a back placket and three snaps.

The coordinating sinamay hat is designed by Karen using standard millinary techniques. The hat's stunning down turned brim is wrapped in bias cut royal blue silk dupioni and gives an air of elegance to the outfit. The hatband is also made from the same dupioni silk while the fabric rose is made from royal blue organza. The sheer ribbon bow is accented with a gold button that has one perfect large pearl in the center, and gold fabric leaves are scattered throughout. Inside the hat, a ribbon band is sewn to ensure that her hair does not get caught when she takes it off to begin to party at the reception. This OOAK outfit may be purchased at Karen's shop right now, and there are more photos of each piece to allow you to take a closer look.

Denise Beaudin

Denise's vintage Cissy is modeling the Bridesmaidzilla gown set titled "Spring Peach" for this April Happening.  The gown and shawl are constructed from a lustre pale orange colored satin that is the color of ripe peaches.   A decorative accent trim of white border lace flowers is placed at the neckline, center bodice and waistline.

Each flower has a tiny orange bead sewn into the center to add a touch of color.  The bodice is fitted, self lined with the same fabric, and is sleeveless.  The skirt has four loose pleats, each pleat situated under the front and back darts.   The shawl has matching lace trim on the short edges.  The circular shaped hair piece is bordered in matching lace and two of the white flowers with tiny beads are stitched along the center.

Anna Castanes

Everyone wondered why Anna came in so early; was she up to playing her tricks even on her best friend, the bride?? Well as a matter of fact.... Anna had come in and had replaced the bedding in her room!!  As she inspected her handiwork she was wondering what her best friend would think of this fabric for her Bridesmaid dress, and could only imagine the look on her face!   She thought she would either be a bridesmaid or a guest after the Bride saw this; that is if the Bride even let her stay.

Anna's BridesmaidZilla bedding set includes a reversible coverlet, reversible throw, large reversible pillow, 2 reversible pillow cases, and a decorative pillow.  It is made to fit the Fashion Royalty bed, but other sizes can be made - inquire through the web site.  Decorations and bed not included.

Elizabeth Fenton
Nasha's Doll Boutique

Elizabeth Fenton's bridesmaid is dressed in a delicious creation fit for a princess. The above the knee dress is cut from lilac faille with a silver lace overlay. An off the shoulder rolled collar, dropped waist, and side front slit accent this elegant, fully lined outfit.  Silver beads and sequins encrust the lace overlay. This ensemble is completed with a picture hat decorated with flowers.

Peggy Burney

Barbie has been asked to be a bridesmaid and she decides she is not going to wear one of those awful, ugly satin dresses that you see so often.  She chooses her own dress that has a strapless bodice and a full gathered skirt.  It is constructed of grey silk dupioni, lined with gray silk habitai, and has an overlay of black lace embroidered with rose-colored flowers and a multi-layered black tulle underskirt.

It is enhanced with a rose colored cumberbund-type belt at the waist.  Barbie hopes you enjoy her bridesmaid dress as much as she does and also wanted you to know it will fit her other 11.5" doll friends.  Visit Peggy's shop for more views of this lovely, fun creation.

Gayle Chavez

Gayle has created an OOAK BridesMaidZilla ensemble in a yellow taffeta for the Bride's Spring affair.  Afterwards, instead of this dress sitting in a closet long forgotten, she can wear this to her favorite things to do such as  cocktail parties and afternoon teas.  It's nice to have a bridesmaid dress she really likes.

The dress has embellishments of a pale yellow tulle, pale yellow luster glass beading at the neckline and waistline, and has two small rosettes at the shoulders.

It is lined, and has snap closures. This ensemble includes  stockings, earrings, bouquet, and COA, and is available at Oohlalaz.

Kevin Kilmer

Kevin Kilmer feels his Terror in Teal is just the ensemble to set the tone for BridesmaidZilla Vanessa.  She's every bit the bridesmaid diva.......only a bit more so.  See any of the other BridesmaidZillas with elaborate diamond earrings like the ones added to her outfit!?! The beautiful daywear dress is made from a super intense deep turquoise brocade material with teal dupioni accents along with the small addition if a few seed beads at the center bustline.  This dress comes with the matching hat that is accented with matching tulle and flowers along with the swarovski crystal earrings.   Lucky for Vanessa - or your doll - it is fit for a wedding as well as an elegant evening dinner.  Oh, and she's not trying to compete with the Bride - she is convinced she doesn't have to!

Wow, quite a group of divas these Brides have to deal with!  But also quite a nice collection of Bridesmaid's dresses we have.  If you're planning a June wedding for your favorite bride it is time to get going - perhaps by visiting the shops of CDS to pick out a bridesmaid dress.  At some of the shops you may be able to order a custom bridal gown - you know, the one of your dreams; or to ask a shop owner to show you their portfolio of wedding gowns if they have one.  Lots of options when you shop early.

You could also lag back a bit, purchase your Bridesmaid dress now, and see the June Bridal showing June 7.  That is going to be lots of fun!!  But for now that ends our presentation for this month.  I've got to get ready for our fun Mother's Day cards, and maybe some other features for May - see you then.  Have fun in the meantime!!

Of hats, bunnies, and eggs

In your Easter bonnet
with all the frills upon it,
You'll be the grandest lady in the

Easter parade....
                                                                ~Irving Berlin

Easter was always a special day for my Mother. She was a buyer, so she'd just bring home what she thought we would like, and then we'd have a special "try on day." Although I don't dress that way today - few do -  I really loved it back then. Of course, along with the dress, I'd have to pick out just the right purse, shoes, hat, and even jewelry to accessorize my outfit perfectly.

We always went to church anyway, but this day was very specail!  Everyone at the church was dressed so devine, and all of the pews were filled to the brim! We sang "Easter Parade" along with the beautiful hymns, and we usually had a wonderful potluck lunch in the church's special events room. This was a day of prayer, and after that there was fashion and friends, and I loved it!!

Many people throughout the country joined in this tradition - dressing up seemed to put us in harmony with the promise of spiritual renewal and redemption. Here are some really dramatic examples of the fashion celebration evident at Easter, especially featuring hats, as demonstrated in Bing Crosby's Easter Bonnet video. (CAUTION CONTAINS MUSIC!)

Even at the depths of the Great Depression a new or refurbished Easter hat was a simple luxury. But it became almost a necessity in popular culture by the time Irving Berlin penned his Easter bonnet tune. By the time the popular movie titled "Easter Parade" after that same tune; starring Judy Garland, Fred Astaire, Peter Lawford, and Ann MIller hit the big screen in 1948; there was no doubt that hats were a big staple in this holiday. In fact New York City and other cities hosted festive parades of their own modeled after the movie's walkabout.

The Easter Bunny or Easter Rabbit tradition goes back even further - to approximately 1682 when Georg Franck von Frankennau refers to an Alsace tradition of an Easter Hare bringing Easter Eggs in his De ovis paschalibus. According to legend the character depicted as a rabbit, sometimes wearing clothes, brings Easter eggs in his basket, candy, and sometimes toys to the homes of children. See any similarities to Santa Claus and bringing gifts?

Well, obviously maor retailers did because today their shelves are lined with majorly huge filled baskets, enormous chocolate bunnies, and all manner of toys you "must have" as an appropriate Easter offering. And wouldn't you know it, the hats have almost disappeared. So it's especially nice we can do the Easter "dress up" we enjoyed during our childhood with our dolls!

Now it's fun time - don't forget to click on the Easter "cards" to see bigger pictures of the fashions.  You can also click the link in the descriptions to go over to the individual shops to see more pictures and information on their featured fashions.  Let's play!

La Petite Fashion Promenade’s contribution to the Easter Parade is a fabulous four piece  ensemble for Antoinette, Deva Dolls, and similar proportioned 16 inch fashion dolls. The strapless dress has a bodice of black stretch satin, a  four tier black and white print skirt, and is fully lined in nude Glissenette to prevent staining.  Hidden elastic provides a secure fit and keeps the dress from stretching out of shape. See all the details in Ina's shop.

As Anna looked at the bedding she had made for Easter she could not help but admire the fine silk reversible coverlet and the rectangular reversible pillows that matched.  She thought what a wonderful gift it would make for someone's favorite doll. You will find this set in her shop, Somethings Old Somethings New, on Designer Drive.

Karen's Easter outfit is a 100% cotton shift style dress with short, puffed sleeves.  It has a coordinating belt under the bust that is accented with an Easter egg pewter buckle.  The dress is lined and closes in the back with a zipper.  The short puffed sleeves are unlined. The pink sinamy hat has coordinating trim around brim and hat band, and a big silk flower and rose  colored bow.  The three multi-colored Easter Egg decorations have beads on the ends to finish this outfit. See this at Xxtrafashionable.

Creative Couture's dress for Poppy Parker, Barbie, or other 11.5" dolls is called Roses in Bloom and gives the feeling of Spring and Easter! It is fashioned from a chiffon print of pink with rose colored roses, and  completely lined in pink satin. It features a bodice with a scoop neck and long full shear sleeves ending in satin cuffs trimmed with pearl buttons. The dress has a full skirt eith four layer underskirt of tulle and a belt of pink satin. There is  a clutch purse of pink satin with a pearl button closure. Poppy could have a lovely day, and be very comfortable in her lovely spring frock. You may purchase this fashion from Peggy's shop.

Easter to her means bunnies and hats! She wears a classic cotton sheath print with the "Tale of Peter Rabbit" print. The blue cotton cummerbund is separate and has a satin ribbon "cabbage rose" accent.  Of course there is a matching hat and purse because what Lady would pass the Easter season without a complete ensemble!  Meet you in my BW Designs shop on Main Stret for a try on??

My Vintage Cissy wears a dress set that was inspired by the lyrics of the Irving Berlin song "Easter  Parade."  Pansy flowers on  ecru background is the floral spring pattern of the cotton polyester fabric used to create Deni Doll Design's frock.  The lovely dress for Easter celebrations has a square neckline, gathered short sleeves and a full skirt. Beautiful accents in mauve are added by lace and ribbon at hemline, looped ribbon belt at the waistline, and ribbon roses stitched to the sleeve hemlines  plus one on the bodice.  The bonnet is trimmed with flowers and leaves, then a bow so the hat ties under the chin. See all in her shop!

Delilah wears a soft pink cotton shirtwaist dress made by Pat Stoughton. The circular skirt and the bodice is fully lined in a baby pink cotton. The dress has a removable white lace belt.  She carries a pocketbook of white organza with embroidery embellishment. In her hair is a vintage-style hat dotted with white blossoms.  When I was a small girl, I had a much-loved dress similar to this. My hat was a simple piece of lace and tiny flowers and I carried a small pocketbook. All were made by Pat's mother, a seamstress.

Spring Romance is a classic ensemble consisting of a strapless sheath dress of luscious printed silk charmeuse. It is topped with a bolero style jacket of tangerine silk crepe, and features collar and elbow length sleeves.  Both pieces are fully lined. A smart little hat, embellished with flowers and tulle, completes this outfit available at Nasha's Doll Boutique.

In honor of the holiday, Gayle has created an ooak ensemble, Easter stroll " Sunshine" inspired and in memory of her Mother's love for yellow roses.  A knit fabric with hand ruffling that resembles a blooming rose makes up this outfit available on Oohlalaz's website. This ensemble is a two piece top dress and slip on skirt that can be worn as a short dress or as pictured.  Other accessories included are a parasol, hat, earrings and stockings.

This outfit from one of our newest shops, Just Jenny's, is titled Easter Egg Hunt.  The fitted and lined top is made from a 100 % cotton Easter Egg print, and is trimmed in back rick rack at the neckline..  The back closes with multi-colored buttons. The white poly/cotton, elastic waist pants use coordinating print as stripes near the hem.  To top off this cute, sunny ensemble it a bandana trimmed in white bias tape.  When creating her My Size Barbie fashions, Jenny takes extra care in construction by using overlock seams. This outfit is now available for sale in her shop! Custom Orders gladly accepted!

Well that's all for our March Happening, but we're working on lots of upcoming projects for April and all through the Summer.  So enjoy the beauty Spring always brings - and don't forget to enjoy it with your dolls!

                  Happy Easter from CDS!!
